Patient Centred Care
Auld Orthopaedics is run by a consultant with an excellent track record, who began specialist hip and knee surgery practice in 2005. His wish is to make a real difference to people's lives and to do so with integrity.
Knowledge should be openly shared with patients, to ensure the right treatment decisions are made. Patient choices also benefit from transparency on current performance and a realistic appraisal of outcome.
Medical treatment of any form can be stressful, especially if surgery is involved. We believe that being informed and confident on choices made reduces stress, along with contributing to successful treatment.
A Safe Approach
The UK is an established centre for orthopaedic safety. The British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) publish standards for each discipline, wider oversight is in place, from professional bodies and the Care Quality Commission.
Their goal to protect patients is one we share. High quality orthopaedic treatment can achieve so much but must be provided in a safe way, which puts the wellbeing of our patients at the forefront of every decision.
The Northampton hospital we use has a similar philosophy, their multidisciplinary team are focused on patients feeling informed and safeguarded.
Looking To The Future
The care we provide is tailored to an individual's needs, with evidence based best practice a key factor. Use of proven effective treatments is essential to achieve excellent results for our patients.
A good orthopaedics practice should still be prepared to move forward. There will be times when changing to a new implant or treatment technique makes sense, so we monitor developments in the orthopaedics field closely.
Alongside international studies, UK organisations such as the BOA and Orthopaedic Research UK fund important research. This could be on new implants, techniques, materials, or biological treatments. All are reviewed constantly, appraised and introduced if shown to provide a superior outcome to the current accepted standard.
Auld Orthopaedics will always keep safety, performance and a speedy recovery as the keystones of treatment.
