In patient treatment can naturally take place at varied times. Consultancy appointments are normally on:

- Wednesday 8:30am to 11:00am
- Friday 8:30am to 10:30am
Getting To Three Shires
The hospital is 1.5 miles from Northampton's well served mainline station. A taxi service is available, or a choice of buses.
If you are travelling by car, ample free parking is available, you will need to register your vehicle at reception. Should you be coming from outside Northampton, the A45 - A428 (Holiday Inn) junction is a good landmark.
Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time. Where you are visiting an in patient, times are normally quite liberal but Covid has brought stricter controls. Calling the hospital before travelling is important.
Consultations & Confidentiality
A referral from your GP, or allied health professional such a physiotherapist is helpful, as this provides us with details of your medical history and current medications.
Self-referral is however empowering patients to seek a specialist opinion without need for a formal referral letter. If you choose this route, please bring details of your medications and any relevant medical history to your consultation.
Well equipped, private rooms are available for consultation and information given by patients during their visit remains confidential. You will see an experienced orthopaedic consultant, who appreciates the best approach to patient confidentiality.
Having family members, or friends accompany you is not normally an issue but again, due to Covid, pleased discuss this before they attend.
Paying For Treatment
Payment by medical insurance is welcome, insurers will generally require a GP referral before authorising this. Three Shires works with all UK private medical insurance companies and a number of international providers.
Should you prefer not to wait for an appointment with your GP, the hospital can arrange a private GP appointment via video, to speed up referral.
In the same way, you can arrange for your entire treatment to be self funded. Costs will be clearly discussed at your consultation, the method you choose for payment will make no difference to the level of care you receive.
Discrimination Policy
For patients (or staff) we do not discriminate due to race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, marital status, or sexual orientation. Providing a welcoming environment for all is essential to good medical care.
Access and toilet facilities for patients with mobility needs are readily available. In the unlikely event that we are unable to provide services to a disabled patient, we will seek to give details of an alternative provider.
This policy is important to us, our staff are there to listen to cultural needs and to follow established equality procedures.
Medical Records & Regulation
As stated in The Access to Health Records Act 1990, you have a right to access your medical records. Please ask a staff member for details.
The hospital is registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). All consultants are registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and with professional bodies, following the codes of conduct of both.
